Get DirectionsCarmen High School of Science & Technology – South and Southeast will be unifying into one brand-new, state-of-the-art campus opening in Fall 2026. Our new campus will continue to provide strong academics while offering modern, purpose-built spaces to support our students—including a collaborative STEM lab, a College & Career Center, and a large gym. The facility will incorporate a dynamic STEM environment and a dedicated College & Career Center that advance our mission to graduate all students as critical thinkers and self-directed learners prepared for college, meaningful careers, community involvement, and family life. Uniquely designed classrooms will promote collaboration, discussion, and engagement, while our upper high school will feature lecture hall–style spaces to prepare students for the collegiate experience.
At Carmen Schools, we want the best for our students—and we know that means supporting them in a variety of ways. Our new campus will pair academic success with social-emotional learning and holistic support through the Helping Center, our dedicated student wellness space, and our social work offices.
In December 2025, Carmen Schools celebrated the groundbreaking of our future Southgate campus with a powerful gathering of supporters, community partners, students, board members, and friends who believe deeply in our mission and the promise of what’s to come. The event featured inspiring remarks from Carmen CEO Aaron Lippman, Mayor Cavalier Johnson, and other leaders who spoke to the impact this campus will have on students and the surrounding community. Student performances, commemorative cookies, and the ceremonial turning of the soil with branded shovels made the day both meaningful and memorable, marking an exciting step toward opening our doors in Fall 2026. More than the start of construction, the groundbreaking symbolized Carmen building on its legacy of providing high-quality, equitable education for all.

We are deeply grateful to our construction and design partners—Gilbane, Catalyst Construction, Ramlow/Stein, and Amplify Graphics—whose expertise and collaboration are bringing the vision for Carmen Southgate to life. Their commitment to quality, creativity, and shared belief in our mission is evident in every phase of the project. Together, they are helping build not just a campus, but a future home for learning, community, and opportunity.
Carmen Southgate sits on the property of the former Ascension Clinic at 20th and Oklahoma and has been selected as a finalist for the 2025 Commercial Association of Realtons Wisconsin (CARW) Deal of the Year Awards in the Development category. Other categories of recognition for the prestigious real estate award includes: Industrial, Investment, Office, and Retail.
