Where you decide to send your child is one of the most important decisions a family can make.
At Carmen Schools of Science and Technology, we take your trust in us very seriously. We are a school community grounded in the belief that all children can achieve at their highest potential if surrounded by adults who are invested in their success. Our school culture is focused on values like respect, responsibility and trust and celebrating the unique differences of every student. Carmen does not discriminate in any way, including on the basis of ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identification or disability.
Like all public charter schools in Milwaukee, Carmen enrolls students through a lottery system. We encourage you to enroll today to increase your chances of securing a seat at one of our six schools, serving students in K4 (full day program) through grade 12.

Carmen provides a positive, value-based learning environment where culture and diversity are respected and celebrated.
Your student will learn to love learning through our culture of Rigor, Structure and Joy everyday at Stellar Elementary. Students begin each day with Morning Motivation: singing, dancing and reciting the school creed to start our day focused on community and joy. Stellar’s innovative program model sets students up for math and reading proficiency by providing three teachers across two classrooms facilitating scaffolded small group instruction; including special education teachers uniquely trained to support students with special needs.
The Carmen mission and vision starts with elementary and middle school. Our students have established a strong foundation in math and reading proficiency and continue their love of learning and culture-building through our middle school core values: community, determination, empathy, growth, respect, and trust. Middle schoolers are introduced to Carmen advisory where they discuss development and find support with their peers and a staff Advisor. 6th-8th graders develop key skills and prepare for high school life.
Carmen high school students will have a well-rounded experience, with access to Advanced Placement (AP) courses, have the potential to earn college credit, complete the required community service hours, and apply for paid student internships through our Student Internship Program (SIP). Our students will learn in and out of school through career site visits to some of Milwaukee’s most prestigious organizations, explore colleges at college fairs and campus visits, and so much more
The Carmen Schools College and Career teams work together for students and families through school and beyond high school graduation. The College Team support students through the planning of college visits, assisting students with FAFSA, scholarships, and college applications. Our alumni services includes helping our graduates with course registration while at college, campus visits, and other check-ins through college graduation. The Career Team curates career fairs so that Carmen students can learn about a variety of career opportunities and pathways, arranges site visits and internships, and helps Carmen students earn the social capital necessary to succeed in college and life.
An enrollment application is required to secure a seat at all Carmen schools. Students are selected through a random lottery process and offers are extended to students based on the number of available seats per grade at each school. Carmen offers preference to siblings of current Carmen students. If the number of applications is greater than the number of seats available, students are placed on a wait list. Additional lotteries will be held on a monthly basis to fill any remaining seats until all seats are filled.
Carmen Schools has a separate process for enrollment from Milwaukee Public Schools. For more information click here.
The 2025-2026 application opens on September 27, 2024, and the deadline to apply will be November 4, 2024. Families who apply will receive communication by November 11 via Schoolmint about their application status.
Carmen School lottery process will be held starting November 8, 2024.
Registration is a mandatory step for all new Carmen Schools students. Once your family has been offered a seat, the next step is to accept your offer and register in SchoolMint. Registration allows us to have all important student information such as emergency contact confirmation, health updates, and family demographics. Families can student and parent agreements and pay fees for the upcoming school year.
Families who are offered a seat but do not complete registration risk losing their seat at Carmen.
At Carmen Schools we believe in setting our students and families up for success. For this reason, we host a series of mandatory student orientations to learn more about Carmen’s culture and core values, based on the point of the student journey.
Re-enrollment allows current families the opportunity to secure their seat for the upcoming school year. Carmen families can confirm their intent to return for the next year and update all important information such as proof of residence, emergency contact, and health history by logging on to Schoolmint during our re-enrollment period which begins on February 10, 2024.
Life happens! At Carmen Schools, we are open to accepting student transfers as we understand that families may experience life happenings that warrant the need to find a new school: moving to a different area, unaddressed concerns at a current school, or similar circumstances. The Transfer-In window opens in November 2024 for the spring semester and in April 2025 for the fall semester. Families looking to transfer into Carmen must create a profile and complete an application via Schoolmint, then upload an official transcript and complete the additional steps. Students must meet grade-level criteria to be considered, all transfer applications are reviewed by the Carmen Schools Transfer Committee consisting of school leaders, Director of Admissions, and other Carmen staff. Families will be notified once a decision is reached.
